Olivia Michalak
Dance teaching artist
An artist, Olivia is an experienced dance educator in public and private schools, in addition to dance studios. Another passion is designing choreography for musical productions. Her movement teaching career began in 2014 while studying at London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where she earned an MA in Movement Teaching and Directing.
Recently Olivia attended the Creative Dance Center’s Summer Dance Institute for Teachers in Seattle as a recipient of a Fund for Teachers Fellowship. Anne Green Gilbert’s Brain Dance, which uses eight fundamental movement patterns of human development as a full body and brain exercise, gives her a great source of inspiration. She loves working with a variety of age groups, and is confident that all bodies were made to dance! Olivia believes that dance education increases one’s personal movement vocabulary, collaborative abilities, and critical thinking skills, while fostering positive self-esteem and creativity. Olivia joined the Dance in the Schools team in 2024.
