Erica Sigal
Consultant, Executive Director Emeritus
Erica Sigal was Coordinator of Dance in the Schools for nineteen years from when it began as an element of DanceMonth, a program run by The Dance Complex in Cambridge. After relocating to California in 2019, she became Executive Director of the program. Since May 2021, Erica continues to be actively involved as a consultant and remote Teaching Artist. Erica has studied many dance forms including Jazz, Ballet, Creative, Israeli, Swing, Cajun/Zydeco, etc. She has taught Creative Movement and Dance to children and families around Greater Boston and in Rhode Island – in classrooms, preschools, community centers, libraries, outdoors, and with Dance in the Schools. She has training in teaching children’s dance from Seattle’s Creative Dance Center (with Anne Green Gilbert), Tufts University and the University of Utah. Erica has led numerous workshops on bringing movement and dance into the classroom. She has also performed with Aëro, an integrated abilities dance company and in Boston’s annual Israeli Dance Festival. Erica received the MADEO (Massachusetts Dance Education Organization) 2013 Presidential Award for Outstanding Service in Dance Education and the Arts Learning 2016 Outstanding Community Arts Education Collaborative Award for her work with Dance in the Schools.
